Dick Lekberg

ASK

This is my dear friend Dick Lekberg who brought me into Masonry and my sons joined in honor of him. My family got to know Dick very well. Dick was brought into Masonry by his brother.

A finer man I have never met. He lived the basic princples of Masonry and his faith. In his walk in life he touched many in his path. Family, Church, and Masonry his passion. Two of his favorite quotes are below:

"Masonry makes a good man Better"

"Masonry is not a secrete organization,

it is an organization with secretes."

I know Dick would be honored to be a part of sharing Masonry, so in his honor I have him here sharing Masonry. He would say to you just ASK. A Past Master & Chaplin.

Masonry attracts men because of its mystery, because of its secrets.  Most of us have no real understanding of what it is we’ve undertaken until long after we’ve done it.  No matter how you come to be interested in Masonry, the only way you’ll stay with it is to understand a basic philosophy.  That philosophy is that men only become great by raising up and supporting those around them so that they succeed and flourish.  This applies not only to our Brother Masons, but also to our families, friends, communities, nations, and even the world itself.  To that end, Masonry has a grand reputation as a supporter of charities, but it is more than that.  We don’t just raise money and present checks.  We comfort the sick, befriend the lost, support our nations and believe in our communities.  I’ve never known another organization that so simply and effectively works to make the world better.  In doing for others, we find that we come full circle to better ourselves through that service.  That’s the real secret and it’s not even one we’re required to keep, but it is a gift so valuable that it’s kept men like us building and defending it for centuries.

Why I became a Mason. I wanted to become a Mason from the age of seven, I didn't know at the time what it was. All I Know is that I had a very strong feeling about becoming one.

We had an Insurance man who was a Mason at the time, and when my parents went to his office, I used to sit in a chair next to his desk, and played with his compass and square.

My wife was the one who introduced me to a brother mason, and he told her to have me talk to him and I filled out an application and joined the masons June 3rd, 2006 with his sons. I think I made a very good choice, I have met some very important and very nice people!

My grandfather Frank Porter Brown was a Master Mason, my Grand Mother Jenny Brown was in Eastern Star, and many other relatives in Masonic bodies. I've wanted to join Masonry many years ago, I said I do not have the time. A dear friend Dick Lekberg talked about Masonry and I shared my Masonic roots. I just had to ASK. This time I said when am I going to have the time, and ASKED. I became a Master Mason, this is my Lodge. I found you have the time, some how you find it. There are Masonic actives going on every day through out the world. Brothers round the world who hold a bond that is extremely strong, united in Masonry. I have made many true friends, Brothers in Masonry over the years. Men from all walks of life. I should have ASKed years ago. A honorable, respectful, fraternity, that makes good men better. It has been a fantastic Journey. My two sons became Masons, we joined the Scottish Rite together and are 32 degree Masons now. Ask, take that first step in a wonderful Masonic journey.

How to Join Mumford River Lodge

The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts welcomes those qualified men who are interested in the possibility of joining our ranks — to become a member of a Fraternity whose members and principles
have shaped our country and our history.

Freemasonry requires that a man cannot be compelled to join our Fraternity and that he must seek admission based on his “own free will and accord.” Therefore, he must ask a member to sponsor
his application.

The process for becoming a Mason is managed at the Lodge level. The first step towards joining is
to contact Mumford River Lodge to have them consider you for membership.
